Know what to practise next.

AP CSP is broader than a Java course. We connect computing concepts to examples your child can explain, then practise using the AP exam reference notation and reasoning through unfamiliar questions.

College Board AP CSP course and assessment

What your lessons look like

Build before the assessed task.
Practise procedures, parameters, lists, selection and iteration through small original programs. Learn to explain how a program works before attempting assessed work.
Understand the Create requirements.
Review current College Board instructions, attribution rules and submission requirements. Tutoring can develop the underlying skills; assistance on assessed work must stay within those rules.
Make room for the whole course.
Programming is one part of CSP. We also use everyday examples to discuss data, networks and the effects of computing, then practise multiple-choice and written-response reasoning.
Know the homeschool registration steps.
Contact an AP coordinator about an exam-only section and AP Digital Portfolio access. Confirm the current Create submission deadline and exam arrangements with the coordinator before committing to an exam plan.

College Board provides a route for students who are not enrolled in an AP CSP class. Work with an AP coordinator to arrange an exam-only section and access to the AP Digital Portfolio. Tutoring does not register you for the exam.

No. AP CSP does not prescribe Java in the way AP CSA does. We can discuss a suitable language for practice and follow the current requirements for your assessment.

No. We use separate practice to develop your skills and discuss the published requirements. Your assessed submissions must follow College Board’s current rules on independent work, collaboration and permitted assistance.

Yes. Each Microcohort focuses on a subject, such as Python or Java. You can enquire about one-to-one lessons or learning in a small group. Groups have up to three students. Both formats include a free trial; Zain confirms availability and the schedule before you book.
